Learning in the laboratory - How pharmaceutical science students perceive time in laboratory instruction

This study was the first attempt to investigate pharmacy students' perspectives on learning in the laboratory (a pilot study). Six students were interviewed and provided perspectives on their perceptions of and approaches to laboratory teaching and the impact of exams on their behavior. A recurring theme in the students' statements was their experience and perception of the quality of time spent in the laboratory. Students either perceived time in the lab as time for immersion and learning or as a waste of time. The students' perception of time affected their perception of learning and their orientation toward exams.
